  • Speed, Sprint & Cross Country Camp (JULY 10 - 13) (5:30 PM - 9:00 PM)

    The Spartan Speed, Sprint, & Cross Country Camp is open to boys and girls who will be in grades 3 through 9 for the upcoming school year and is specifically designed for distance runners, sprinters, or any athletes of who are looking to get faster and stronger. Campers will be broken into groups based on ability, and absolutely no experience is necessary! Campers will choose to focus on either endurance or speed training. This camp runs from Monday – Thursday.

    Cross Country / Endurance Camp

    Learn how to build endurance fitness and fall in love with running! The endurance portion of the camp is designed to introduce the most current training to all cross-country runners and middle distance track runners. The campers will focus on the following areas:

    • Training theory
    • Warm-up and cool down routines
    • Proper running form and drills
    • Hill running and proper technique
    • Core strength and weight training
    • Flexibility and injury prevention
    • Speed for middle distance runners
    • Hydration and diet
    • Leadership/ team bonding skills
    • Racing Strategies

     

    Speed/ Track Skills Camp

    Become faster and stronger! The Sprint portion of camp is designed to increase the campers overall speed through three phases of sprinting: start, acceleration, and stride. Campers will also learn and practice the principles of relay running and zone baton exchanges. This camp is designed to increase the campers’ overall speed, quick start, and agility through proper form, flexibility, plyometric and associated weight training exercises and drills to increase speed and power.

    COST: $145.00 which includes $75 non-refundable deposit that will be applied to tuition.

  • Mike DiGennaro - Camp Director

    Mike DiGennaro- Camp Director- Coach DiGennaro is entering his 9th season as the head coach of the girls’ cross country and outdoor track and field programs at Saint Mark’s. Coach DiGennaro specializes in training endurance runners, where he has coached over 25 All-County and 12 All-State athletes in XC and track and field, and has coached over 21 school record holders since 2008. As an athlete, Coach DiGennaro competed in the 2004 Olympic Trials in the 3000M Steeplechase, and was ranked #14 in the United States. He held 6 school records while at the University of Delaware, and currently holds 7 state road records in Delaware. Coach DiGennaro was recently awarded the USATF Mid-Atlantic Runner of the Year for 2015. He is excited to share his expertise in coaching and running with the campers!.

  • Ron Smith - Camp Director

    Coach Smith has been the Saint Mark’s strength coach, sprint track coach, and football coach for nearly 20 years. He is responsible for turning out 21 state champions in track, multiple school record setting athletes and working with the youth in becoming bigger, faster and stronger. Coach Smith has also been the Spartan Strength and Speed Development Camp Director for over 10 years..
